I remember watching this on The Muppet Show or something - it was on TV when I was pretty young in any case, but this has since been a recurring joke with my family.  And that’s been almost as long as I can remember.  I had no idea the snarky waiter was Steve Martin!

Also, I’m really digging Caseydonahue’s man crush on Steve Martin.
